This cronyism in the face of how her dealing with the pipeline is portrayed in the media is pitch perfect. Her policy views to the execution to her spoken word on those beliefs, are in the ratio of a seasoned politician. She understands how to sell herself and those beliefs. It would appear she seemingly lacks experience in the media to help her out of her own shit storms of nervousness. Quite simply, her inability to get comfortable with speaking amongst a more diverse population has resulted in fatal gaffes that are nearly unheard of in this 24 hour news cycle. This has to be crushing for those who champion her and her causes of the day.
To use a football analogy, it should be noted that this woman is essentially a redshirt Freshman for the GOP. She’s been groomed to get here, given money to win in AK by the RNC, and even a favored child in quite a few circles. I think most important politicos in the party are pleased with her ability to impact the core of conservatives and to reignite the Christian coalition and re-link it to the core. I believe they are mostly disappointed she was tapped so early and thus prone to mistakes that can turn ugly in such a short period. Much like college fans are upset when a young prospect has to play before he have a chance to develop, so too are plenty of conservatives with Mrs. Palin.
The mantra would appear to be: “give her one more ‘year’(term) in the system.” With this experience behind her and the still solid support of the national base, she might become quite formidable. Time will tell if she is still interested in this spotlight and is willing to take her licks in the media and develop a better approach. As a liberal, I wonder about the year 2012 and whether it could be Gov. Palin vs. Gov. Jindal for the heart and soul of the GOP.
